Melissa Sugar Gold

Hi, I'm Melissa Sugar-Gold. Sugar is my maiden  name and since the father of my kids and my current husband and I are all attorneys, I've always used my maiden name. Professionally, I never used the name Melissa Carby ( my kids last name) or Melissa Gold. It was just too confusing in small town courtrooms. I've considered hyphenating my name (and apparently some people and sites do that for me), but Melissa Sugar-Gold, sounds like a made up name. Come on admit it. You know that game you played as a kid, combine your middle name with the name of your first pet or the name of the first street you lived on and voila ... you have your exotic dancer name. "Melissa Sugar-Gold," no thanks. It sounds like a stripper name and believe me I've never worked as a stripper.   I am a mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend, lawyer and an author writing her way toward publication. Contrary to what some smear campaign woman wrote about me, I have never claimed to be a published author. I wrote a book, when my triplet girls were in the NICU. I wrote the book, telling my story as a form of encouragement for other parents living through the same nightmare. The book was published and offered for sale via those pamphlets that are distributed to parents with sick or dying children. Why someone would mistake that for a major best selling published book  is beyond me - they didn't! It was a jab at me.  So, let me set the record straight. That one book was written and designed for a very narrow and limited audience and all proceeds were donated the the NICU.   I have completed one novel, a thriller and I will begin querying and pitching it after I get feedback from a freelance editor. I've just completed the second draft of my second novel - suspense/thriller, and am about to tear it a part in the final revision process. I hope to become a published author via the traditiional publishing route.   My family, children and parents are my life. I live everyday as if it might be my last because we never know what tomorrow holds. Be good and kind to those you love. Don't live with regret. Don't hold grudges. Learn to forgive because when you don't, you only hurt yourself.    I love the beach, reading , swimming , my dogs and traveling.  I dislike jealously, bullying, cyberstalking, cyber-trolls, pettiness, vengeful people, people who are cruel or harmful to the elderly, children and animals. There is a special place in hell for them. And, I despise those things that fall out of magazines while I'm reading and the floating pop ups on websites and blogs that make it impossible to read the article.   I'm active on Twitter, but still a newbie or a "Twitter Twit," as my kids call it.
